Back up the platform itself

  1. Add a separate storage target first

    Only targets no plan stores to are offered: a backup of the catalogue on the same target as the backups it describes would be lost with them. See Add a storage target.

  2. Generate the recovery kit

    Each self-backup file is encrypted with the platform key and the recovery key, so the kit opens it on a machine that never ran the platform.

  3. Open Admin › Self-backup, pick the Target and save

    It runs daily at 02:30 UTC.

  4. Click Run it now and check Last success
